“Solaris” by Stanislav Lem is one of the finest Science Fiction books in the world. Yes, It can drag in some places, and yes, an attentive reader can date it due the scienctific ideas presented there, yes, they made two films which totally missed the point of the story.

But it’s a book, which is philosophical, intruiging, rich with ideas and very rewarding to read. There’s a reason I quoted it at the beginning of ToC. I’ve read it completly in one single session - and that rarely happens. It made Stanislav Lem one of my paragons.

I recommend it to anyone who wants to see Science Fiction beyound the George Lucas styled Space Opera. There’s more to Science Fiction than just “adventures in space!11one!”
